Tensions between Cambodia and Thailand took a dramatic turn at 11:30 a.m. today when Royal Thai Air Force F-16 fighter jets conducted an aerial strike targeting a Cambodian military position along the disputed border zone in Preah Vihear Province.
The airstrike marks a serious escalation in the ongoing conflict, which began earlier this morning with ground clashes between Cambodian and Thai troops near the Dangrek mountain range.
It is the first confirmed use of air power in the recent hostilities.
