The Cambodian Ministry of National Defense asserted that Thailand’s use of all types of heavy weapons and excessive deployment of troops to invade Cambodian territory is a clear violation of the United Nations Charter, the ASEAN Charter and the basic principles of international law.
According to the ministry, such irresponsible and illegal actions pose a serious threat not only to regional peace and stability, but also to the fundamentals of international order.
Cambodia calls on members of the international community to condemn Thailand’s illegal actions without hesitation and in the strongest terms and for the Thai side to bear full responsibility for the actual violations. Cambodia calls on Thailand to immediately cease all hostilities, withdraw forces to the border and avoid aggressive actions that could further escalate the situation.
